Like most people I buy magazines, generally photographic related magazines and on subscription, which means they are delivered to my door. Over the past 5 or 6 month the delivery man has seen fit to bend them needlessly in half and struggle to push them through the letter box, a letter box better suited to taking them flat in the way it was designed to do, the resulting damage to these not inexpensive items is clear to see from the attached photographs, it’s not only creased the images showcased within to a point where the paper is so stretched that they will not return to how they should be “FLAT”.
I appreciate this is not a life and death situation but one I feel it should be rectified, not wanting to create unnecessary problems I let the situation fester in my head for a couple of months, thinking the post man was maybe a student and would soon be gone ! NOT THE CASE, so I took the matter up with said post man who refused totally to engage into conversation on the subject. His only comment was “if it don’t say DO NOT BEND on the packaging (which incidentally it did) we are able legally to do as we please with your post. He would have no more to say on the subject referring me to the complaints department and giving me a card with the necessary details and drove off. HOW RUDE ?
I complained to the post office 2 months ago via Twitter who’s team endeavoured to rectify the problem, a problem that only shows its head monthly due to the publication dates of the magazines I subscribe to.
I notified the publishers of these publications who were concerned, but not enough to take the Post Office to task, and after all they are the ones paying delivery costs.
These magazines are quality publications and cost between £4-00 and £9-00 each and I don’t want damaged ones.
The third magazine is the Royal Photographic Society monthly journal which is part of the R P S annual subscription fee, I truly thought that they would have followed this up but just seamed to dismiss it, and if they have followed it up I’ve not heard any more about it.
ITS’ MONTH END AGAIN AND THE FIRST NEW MAGAZINE HAS ARRIVED, BENT, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS
THE ANSWER FOR ME NOW IS DON’T SUBSCRIBE TO OR BUY ANY MORE POST OFFICE DELIVERED ITEMS.
